Welcome to the Fayette Police Department
The FPD consists of two full time officers and three Reserve Officers when available. Fayette is situated south of the County Seat and nestled in a valley along the Volga River. It is also home to Upper Iowa University, which works closely with the police department to maintain a safe, nurturing and productive environment for students, the university and the community.
As Chief of Police, I strive to maintain as many police services as possible for the community. The FPD offers safety programs at the university, presentations at the local daycare, and information on domestic violence awareness and crime prevention strategies. We also offer free dog and cat licensing, assistance with property protection through house watches and home safety analysis. During the summer months a uniformed officer provides bicycle patrol along the city's recreation trail.
The Fayette Police Department takes a pro-active approach to enforcing criminal activity. We participate every year in the Iowa Governor's Traffic Safety program, enforcing speed and seat belt violations. The FPD also takes a pro-active approach to training its officers in the latest investigative techniques. If you or a family member has the misfortune of being victimized, the FPD will be equipped to handle the issue in a proficient and professional manner.
